Kennedy, Alphonsus

Alphonsus Kennedy was another pipemaker from Co. Cork in Ireland, he made Uilleann and Highland pipes and according to Jeannie Campbell advertised in the Piping Times in 1957 as such.

The following pictures are a suspected Kennedy set, courtesy of Jeff Cullen. A very unique profile to very piece!

  3. Nice to find the site and see the Kennedys. I met Alf in 1964 at a Carigaline Pipe Band practice, he was pipe major at the time. Was invited to his home in Cork and introduced to his dad and shown the workshop, My pipes were made and delivered thirteen months later. Mine look very similar to those in the pics. [wide blowpipe base, thin "waist" on lower drone joints, wide drone tops, chunky projecting mounts]. Ferrules are german silver, a nickel alloy that in time darkens similarly to silver but is less prone to surface dings.
