Name the Bagpipes Contest
Dec 9th….WE HAVE A WINNER……..
Patrick McLaurin of Texas guessed 1950 MacRaes, they are 1949′s so he wins! Congrats Patrick!
Here are pictures for the Island Bagpipe Winter Name the Bagpipes Contest - starts November 22nd/2011 at 10 am PDST and runs until December 9th, 2011 at 5 pm PDST. Same rules as always, 3 guesses per person, correct answer wins a grab bag of prizes. Must guess year and make of pipes, i.e 1974 Sinclair, 1902 MacDougall, etc. Please post your guess here, or on the BDF (Bob Dunsire Forum)or PBF. (Pipe Bands Forum)
I would say Center too.
Silver can be added long after the pipes are made.
OK, Gord, Here we go:
1. 1938 Peter Henderson
2. 1969 R G Hardie
3. 1940 to 1948 Hector Russell (sorry I can’t narrow it down much).
Fingers crossed!
Thanks,
Stewart
Having some second thoughts. I think the first one is a Robert Reid set with Peter Henderson silver from 1938.
Thanks,
Stewart
With Set 1, though I’m inclined to think it’s older, I’m going to go with Lawrie circa 1934 (slides – very grainy though) with Peter Henderson (1938) silver for caps
Set 2. 1969 R G Hardie
Set 3. 1946 Hector Russell (blind guess).
Cheers
George
Ist set , Lawries, 1910
2nd set , Roberttson J. 1915
3rd set , Tweedie, 1973
Set 1. – 1930 lawries with retrofit henderson silver
Set 2. – 1960-65 hardies
Set 3. – 1972 gillanders
1954 Henderson
…And a second guess says 48 henderson…..
Set 1 – 1910 Henderson
Set 2 – 1920 Henderson
Set 3 – 1935 Henderson
I think they are 1957 Henderson’s.
I think they are 1910 Lawries.
1970′s Sinclairs.
4th Guess – 1905 Lawrie’s
Stab in the dark – I’m thinking 1915 Henderson.
This set makes me think of a late set by Center Ca 1910.
60′s Sinclairs.
John Center, or Henderson, early 20th century.
